What Size of Hoop Should I Buy?
This is a helpful guide to choosing your very first hoop. We know it can be difficult to make a decision with so many choices online, so we’ve pulled statistics on what works best for our customers using years of experience helping thousands of people get started on their hoop dance journey.
For on body hooping, it’s best to have a larger, heavier hoop to learn on. When in doubt, choose the larger size in your recommended range. The most popular size for ease of use in our beginner classes is 44”… for lots of different sized people!
For off body hooping, when you buy your first polypro, we have made specific size recommendations to ensure the hoop clears your body when learning escalator type movements. We almost always recommend 3/4” tubing for beginners, unless you’re very petite, because it has more surface area to make contact with and rotates slower. A 28 - 32” polypro hoop would be suitable for just about anyone to learn most of the off body tricks. The most popular size of polypro sold is 29”.
We hope this information helps you to make your decision, and please don’t hesitate to reach out and contact us if you still have questions.
Happy hooping!
